DNA Board Meeting
August 8, 2013
1425 Central Avenue
Meeting was called to order at 7:12pm.
Present: Bailey, Carder, Grooms, Harvey, Meckler, Pugliano, Rimer
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
The Treasurer’s Report was tabled and a number of questions raised. It was agreed that Joe would reformat the statements in QuickBooks for review and discussion at the next meeting.
ULI: Dan reported that the study was proceeding as planned. There will be a public meeting early September when individuals and organizations will have an opportunity for input. The DNA will decide whether to take a position after the format is determined.
Williams Park: SPC has been contacted. Barbara and George will make a presentation to the Board at the September meeting.
Edge District: Dan reported that FolkFest was returning to the Edge District and they are applying for a City stipend.
It was agreed that members would aim for September for presentations to the various condo boards.
September 11 UPP: This will be the Candidate’s Forum at the Birchwood Inn from 6-8. It was agreed to invite members of “nearby” neighborhood associations.
After considerable discussion, on a motion duly made and seconded it was agreed thatbeginning January 1, 2014 UPP ticket prices would be $10 when bought in advance and $15 at the door and that new members would receive a $5 discount on the ticket if they joined that evening.
The Mayor’s 8/28 group (to advise on future steps re: Pier following referendum Aug. 27) was discussed and it was agreed to discuss at the September Board meeting whether the DNA should put forward a point of view.
The topic for the next General Meeting (October 10) will be the Waterfront/Pier.
Field trip to Tampa Bay Watch will be considered for November or early 2014.
It was agreed that Gary would draft a letter to Jabil supporting their move to downtown and offering to help and that it would go out under Paul’s signature. (The letter was sent august 13.)
