The board of directors of the Downtown Neighborhood Association met at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, in the public room at the Florencia.
Present were: Marilyn Olsen, president; Tim Brown, secretary; Lottie Belovitz, treasurer and board members Timothy J. Baker, Paul Carder, Tim Clemmons, Gary Grooms, Marlys Meckler, Joe Pugliano and Bill Stokes. Absent were Peter Belmont and Bill Walsh.
The minutes from the March meeting were approved as emailed.
The treasurer’s report was accepted as filed.
Marilyn Olsen and Tim Baker reported that Ideal Publishing has decided not to offer a contract to publish the DNA Newsletter. Current publishing and distribution policies will remain in effect. Tim Clemmons volunteered to contact other printers for rates. Gary Grooms volunteered to contact the Newsletter Factory.
After a general discussion of quality of life issues, Tim Clemmons made a motion to establish an Ad Hoc committee to draft a proposal and strategy for general membership consideration on issues such as noise, need for additional garbage cans and Parking Improvement District. Marlys Meckler seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Bill Stokes will chair.
Tim Clemmons, Planning Committee Chair, gave an overview of the current Downtown Zoning Codes and potential need for amendments. He will call a committee meeting to discuss these in more detail.
An email will be sent to the membership to invite participation in both committees. It will also ask for volunteers to sell newsletter advertising.
The agenda for the July 12 general meeting will include draft reports from the Ad Hoc and Planning Committees. There will also be presentations and discussion regarding the diverse development projects currently being proposed in the neighborhood.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
