The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) Board of Directors met at Tastings on 1st Avenue North in downtown St. Petersburg, on Thursday, November 15, 2007. Tim Baker called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Allan Brockway presented the treasurerÕs report. Number of paid members is 135; balance in the bank is $1,432.99.
Discussion regarding ways to increase revenues through membership recruitment and advertising ensued.
MOTION: Peter Belmont moved, Allan Brockway seconded that $200 be paid to Beth Connor for her work on behalf of the Association in opposing approval of the proposal by Fuel Group for development of a hotel/condo/retail project at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and 1st Street. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY
MOTION: Sydni Shollenberger moved, Marilyn Olsen seconded that Association membership dues be raised from $10 to $15 for the 2008 membership year. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY
Discussion followed on the Fuel GroupÕs legal appeal through the court to overrule the City CouncilÕs decision to deny the developerÕs proposal for the site at 1st Street North and 5th Avenue.
MOTION: Peter Belmont moved, Sydni Shollenberger seconded that the Association participate in any way the court allows to support the CityÕs position in the Fuel Group/Westin court case.
Discussion followed on the RaysÕ proposal announced this week to build a larger waterfront baseball stadium on the Al Lang waterfront site. Tim Baker, Tim Clemmons, and Marilyn Olsen have met with RaysÕ officials. Tim Baker reported that at the next Association general membership meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2008, the Rays will to give a presentation on their proposal, expected to be on the ballot as a voter referendum in November 2008.
Discussion led by Tim Clemmons on the Parkside Condo/Hotel project proposed for 159 4th Avenue North ensued.

MOTION: Tim Clemmons moved, Peter Belmont seconded that the Association not oppose the proposal by Parkside, including the 7.7 FAR.
AMENDMENT: Peter Belmont moved, Tim Clemmons seconded to add conditions: (1) that the developer purchase $100,000 additional historic development rights and (2) that the historic building at the corner of 4th Avenue North and 2nd Street be made available for movement to another site downtown. AMENDMENT APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY
