The board of directors of the Downtown Neighborhood Association met at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, in the public room at the Florencia.
Present were: Marilyn Olsen, President; Lottie Belovitz, Treasurer, and board members Timothy J. Baker, Tim Clemmons, Marlys Meckler, Joe Pugliano.
Absent were: Tim Brown, Secretary; Peter Belmont, Paul Carder, Gary Grooms, Bill Stokes, Bill Walsh.
The minutes from the September meeting and treasurer’s report were posted on the DNA web site after email distribution.
Marlys Meckler was recognized for her leadership of the DNA participation in Carefest 2012 at Williams Park.
There was an update and general discussion of current development proposals and City Council issues. No action was taken.
Marilyn Olsen reported that she has been notified of an increase in the Sunshine Center Auditorium use fee from $53.50 to $181.90 per event. A letter will be sent requesting a waiver.
The January DNA general meeting agenda will include a presentation by Dave Goodwin of the Central Avenue Revitalization Project, and DNA board elections. Each qualified candidate will be given an opportunity to give a 30 second introduction. Attending members who are current on their dues will be given a ballot and asked to vote for 12 candidates. Tim Clemmons has volunteered to assist with and oversee the tabulations during the program. Results will be announced at the end. The 2013 board will meet briefly immediately following the general meeting adjournment to elect officers.
Tim Clemmons moved and Timothy Baker seconded that DNA renew its CONA membership for 2013. It passed unanimously.
