The Downtown Neighborhood Association held its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the Sunshine Center, 330 5th Street N.

Treasurer’s Report Treasurer Allan Brockway gave his final report, after serving several years as treasurer. He was happy to report that our bank balance was at the highest it has ever been. His report was approved as posted. Peter Stanhope will take over as treasurer. Mr. Stanhope was appointed to the DNA board and the treasurer’s position in an e-mail vote by the board. He fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Nancy Watson.
Guest Speakers ? There were two guest presentations, by Heather Sobush from the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority, and Wayne Atherholt from the Morean Arts Center.
Ms. Sobush described the master plan that TBARTA is working on, particularly as it relates to choosing two routes for public transportation in Pinellas County, one running north/south from Downtown St. Petersburg to the Gateway area, and the other east/west from the Gateway area to Downtown Clearwater. TBARTA is looking at several possible alternatives for each route, and is now gather public opinion on the various possibilities.
City Council member Jeff Danner, who is a member of the TBARTA board, also spoke and answered questions on transportation issues.
Mr. Atherholt talked about the programs offered by the Morean Arts Center on Central Avenue, including their relationship with the Chihuly Gallery on Beach Drive, and a proposal for a glass sculpture in the form of an arbor somewhere along the Downtown waterfront.
The meeting was adjourned at about 8:30 p.m.
