The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) Board of Directors held a General Membership Meeting at the Sunshine Center, 330 5th Street North, St. Petersburg, on Thursday, January 10, 2008. President Tim Baker called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
Candidates for the Board of Directors were introduced. President Baker asked for nominations from the floor. There being none, the nominations were closed. The members of the Board, all listed above, will serve in office until the January 2009 General Membership meeting.
Mr. Baker then introduced Michael Kalt, representing the Rays baseball organization. Mr. Kalt delivered a 28-minute presentation on the proposal to build a new 35,000-seat stadium on the downtown waterfront to replace Al Lang Field and expand the developable area by landfilling a portion of Tampa Bay.
An audience question and answer (Q&A) period began at 7:30 p.m. and lasted until 8:38 p.m., at which time Mr. Baker closed the formal Q&A and Mr. Kalt remained until approximately 9:00 p.m. to answer individual questions and allow attendees to look more closely at the graphic material he had used in the presentation.
Treasurer Allan Brockway presented to the Secretary a copy of the December 2007 Treasurer’s Report to be filed with the minutes. The checking balance at year’s end was $1,516.15. The full report is posted on the DNA website.
The next regularly scheduled DNA board meeting is on Thursday, February 14, 2008. The next General Membership Meeting will take place in April 2008.
