The Downtown Neighborhood Associaiton held its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 13, at the Sunshine Center, 330 5th Street N.

Treasurer’s ReportTreasurer Allan Brockway reported that the association’s budget for 2010 was well balanced. The association took in a total of about $10,000 and spent about $9,400. The treasurer’s report for 2010 was approved as presented.
Election of Board: A new board of directors was elected for 2011. Prior to the meeting, 12 members had been nominated for the 12 open seats, and so all nominees were elected. The nominees included incumbents Allan Brockway, Joe Pugliano, Marilyn Olsen, Peter Belmont, Marlys Meckler, Gary Grooms, John Belovitz and Timothy J. Baker. Also elected were Tim Clemmons and Bill Stokes, both of whom had previously been on the board, and newcomers Nancy Watson and William Walsh.
Guest Speakers ? There were two guest presentations, by James Kostka and Kevin Smith. Mr. Kostak, a science teacher at Lakewood High School, updated the association on a Florida Learn and Serve Grant, through which he and his students are studying the environment of Mirror Lake. Mr. Smith, of the St. Pete Clearwater Sports Commission, a unit of county government, reported on the baseball events that will be held at Al Lang Field in the coming year.
The meeting was adjourned at about 8:15 p.m.
